LIZ MILLER

 

 American,born  in Berlin,Germany,Liz Miller has been living in São Paulo since the age of two.

Liz studied at the British School in São Paulo and did ‘Liberal Arts’ in California and  
in São Paulo.
Her artisitic world initiated with Classical Ballet, Modern and Folchloric Dance,
Singing and Decoration.
Liz’s  exposure to  the ‘Fine Arts’ started at  the age of  ten with the renowned 
Chinese painter, Fang.  
She then pursued Art  courses in Drawing, Painting, Watercolour, Art History, Collage, 
Mixed and Creative Mediums and  Techniques.
Her  main art work has always been linked with ‘Dance’, ‘Movement’ and Action-Painting’.
 
Liz  has been exhibiting Individually and Collectively as an Autonomous Artist since 1986. 
1986 -Participated in seven Art Shows, plus a Solo exhibition at The English Club, 
in São Paulo.  
1987 / 88-In nine Art Shows,  besides The Chapel Art  Show and Anima Art Gallery; 
Solos at  The Municipal Centre of Guarujá, the English Club and at ‘The Cultural 
Centre of S.P.’ with over 50 works shown.
1989 -A  ‘Two-Woman Art  Show’ at The Espaço ‘Off’; The Cultura Inglesa and The 
Paulistano Club; 
Individual Shows at  The Itaú  Foundation and at  The São Paulo Hilton Hotel-
where she won First  Prize in Painting.
1990 /91 &  92 -Won ‘Gold’ and ‘Silver’ Medals in Minas Gerais and First Prize at 
‘The Brazilian Committee of Colour’; 
a Collective Show at The Chap Chap Art Gallery.Abroad, in Germany - at ‘Art  Fairs VI & VII’ 
and  at Nürnberg’s City Hall; also, with an ‘Itinerant  Art-Circuit  Exhibition’  in several 
German  cities.
1990 - Engaged with the beginnings of  The German-Brazilian Art Association called 
’Ponte Cutlura’.
1993 / 94 - The Banespa Museum of São Paulo, and at The MAC-Contemporary Museum of Art of 
São Paulo. 
From 1995 -  has exhibited collectively at The University of Santa Marcelina’s 
Watercolour Art Show;at E.Wey’s
Art and Decoration Studio and worked at  R. Magalhães Gouvêa’s Art Offices in São Paulo.
Had a Solo Exhibit at The Cultura Inglesa, S.P., plus participation in various  
Exhibitions and Workshops in Germany and in France.                               
Liz has works in Museums, Schools and  with private owners in Brazil, Uruguay,
the  U.S., Korea,  Italy, the  U.K., France  and in Germany
In 1991 - Liz  began  teaching  drawing,  painting  and  creativity  for children and  
adolescents  and  has participated in several Workshops for students at  the British 
and American Schools in São Paulo
Since 2001 - Presently,  Liz  is teaching  ESL - giving English Support Lessons in 
the Infant Dept. at an  International  School in  São Paulo and giving English 
private lessons  for adults.
 
Liz defines her Art  as “The continual search  for the inner Truth and Beauty…”
